Part 3
Though this article series barely scratches the surface of the possibilities and rhythms of each season of healing, I hope you can catch the inspiration. I feel this is one of the main pieces missing on the health journey: considering and caring for our entire being.
Change is a process. It involves adopting new mindsets that we’ve not operated in before. As much as we’d like an instant fix, true transformation and the lasting results we long for, happen when we decide to break out of conformity, not being squeezed into molds and models of thinking that have not worked for us: cultural patterns, healthcare systems, family patterns, world systems, religious systems, etc.
We’ll explore the components of the seasons in future articles. Each season is vital and its purpose, essential. We continually move through the cycle, but each time will be bringing us into new ways, new results, new understanding and …a new you!
Remember, identifying your current season of gives us a starting point and a mindset for a balanced, focused approach to well-being.
Here are some final thoughts to pull the seasons together and make the most of your current season:
- Identify. What season are you in right now? Are you between seasons? At the beginning of a new season? Closing up a season?
- Create Seasonal Routines, Traditions and/or Celebrations. Establish personal (or even with friends or family) times that honor the seasons and make this time period special. It may be personal times of reflection, or maybe a gathering with friend(s) and/or family while walking this out together.
- Tune in. Listen to Your Body and Spirit. Pay attention to your physical and spiritual needs. Adjust your activities and routines to align with the season’s rhythm.
- Adapt Your Goals. Set priorities and vision to reflect the energy and opportunities of each season. Be flexible and adjust your plans as needed.
- Stay Aware. Stay present and alert to life’s changes. Change is certain. Embrace each season as a unique opportunity for growth and renewal. Remember, we are continually moving through this cycle.
- Let go. Moving forward often means letting go of something in the past. Be willing. Yes, it can be a loss…even painful. BUT, it’s part of the growth process that leads to new life.
- Move in a new direction. A slight course correction can make a huge difference in your final destination. To get different results we have to do something different. This includes shifting your focus and perspective.
- Be grateful. Accepting each season with awareness and thankfulness gives us a mindset to experience the profound benefits of living in harmony with the rhythms and patterns of life for a balanced, healthful life.
(Keep in mind that these health seasons often overlap and coincide with other life happenings, but they do not always match up.)
